faux leather flop
Day of purchase:
I’m at Goodwill and I cannot believe my luck.
$6.99 for a pair of black dress shoes! They’re my size, my style, and in seemingly great condition. Unfamiliar with the brand, I look it up on my phone, and discover that the shoes are originally about $40 or $50. I try them on. Wonderful fit.
A few days later:
I am walking softly down the side aisle at church, trying to position myself for the next part of the service as everyone is praying silently.
My new shoes are squeaking at every step.
And then I realize it wasn’t luck I found at Goodwill. It was a fair price for faux leather shoes that make loud noises when you’re trying to conceal your presence.
